Her tiny footprint was embossed on the corner of the page. From that moment on all my thoughts would be full of wonder. The small steps she would take, unasured. I would be there behind you arms out stretched against your fall. You never looked back, you were so proud you took the first step unaided. So joyfully you won your first prize.
With all my honor and hope I laid the carpet of future before your steps. On through all your cheers and all our tears, I would be there to wash away your fears on to the dreaming night. You had days of stardust about your brow.
Loving hugs were my reward. The silent gifts were my praises, in the garden were the footprints wound around my happiness. What would I say if I only knew, it would take my breath away. For one day to have the light in her eyes just for me. I needn't have a thank you, or pleasant reminder. But, just to know you're here, home where your heart is. Your steps will always lead you home. Tap three times.
The pictures are old and faded now, and the shoes are running toward the great adventure. So easy isn't it, don't fall. I'll always be in the corner just beyond. You are my jewel of light. I am older now and the light is far away. But I am there. Can you see?
It is warm this garden of sand, and I whiskly chase your little bare footsteps brushed by the wind. Memories are like sand and to catch one, it's like a step in sand, it drifts. But my darling, shine on for I have the first step that lasts forever. You can see it anytime. It is a step away.
